NPAS Helicopter

Police helicopters across England and Wales are part of the borderless National Police Air Service (NPAS).

The focus of NPAS is to deliver a more cost effective air support service, balancing the need to save money in a challenging economic environment against the need to ensure the police service has a quickly deployable asset that can be used to tackle crime and protect the public.

It is co-ordinated centrally by West Yorkshire Police.

Derbyshire Constabulary joined the NPAS central region in October 2013.

The police helicopter helps to arrest hundreds of suspects each year and search for vulnerable missing people.
