In an emergency always call 999

A Career in Contact Management

We're currently recruiting for new members of staff to join our Contact Management Centre as a Force Operations Room Operator.

Contact Management supports operational staff as well as the general public across Derbyshire, handling all 999 emergency and 101 non-emergency calls.

The department is based in the Centralised Contact Management Centre at force headquarters. This brings all of the incident control rooms and call reception centres under one roof.

Centralised Contact Management Centre (CCMC)

The Centralised Contact Management Centre, located at Derbyshire Constabulary Headquarters in Ripley, is home to the Force Operations Room (FOR).

There are two sections within the Force Operations Room: the Force Control Room (FCR) and Force Contact Centre (FCC).

Force Control Room - You will be part of a team of both police officer and police staff working in the Incident Control Room. The primary role of the Incident Control Room is to effectively manage operational policing incidents ensuring that adequate resources are deployed to provide a quality of service. Another key role is to ensure that the 999 emergency calls for service are answered promptly within departmental and national targets. All incidents must be recorded in accordance with the National Standard of Incident Recording and the National Standard of Crime Recording.

Force Contact Centre - You will answer non-emergency calls from both internal and external sources promptly and efficiently, and in line with departmental and national targets. Wherever possible, you will deal with matters arising from calls, without transferring the call elsewhere for resolution, and you will book appointments for members of the public to be seen at their home address or police station. You create incidents and record crime from both the public, and police officers when appropriate, and in accordance with the National Standard of Incident Recording and the National Standard of Crime Recording.
