The customers of the constabulary are the people of Derbyshire. We are committed to providing a high quality, consistent and reliable service to our customers. Reacting to their needs and putting communities first is vital to effectively policing the county and ensuring the safety of the public. We welcome volunteers to help us ensure that we provide the best service that we can. There are a range of activities for volunteers to help us enhance the service we provide; from providing feedback for our call handlers to surveying victim satisfaction to supporting our engagement with vulnerable groups. All of these activities will contribute to strengthening the communities of Derbyshire and improving the service the Police provide to them.
What does this activity involve?
• Speaking with victims on behalf of the Derbyshire Constabulary to improve trust and confidence in the service across the communities in Derbyshire.
• Supporting the training of police officers and staff in key initiatives.
• Ensuring feedback is accurately recorded and that records of contacts are kept up-to-date for the purpose of monitoring feedback in the county.
• Ensuring complaints and requests for further communications are passed through to relevant persons within the organisation.
• Helping organise and attend community events and crime prevention events across the county. Delivering leaflets to victims of crime, attending meetings, taking minuets and administrative support.
• Assisting departments within the force with photocopying and filing. You may also be tasked with inputting data on to computers and giving support to specific projects.
• Using IT applications such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word to write letters, leaflets and reports.
• Supporting the promotion of key initiatives on the police internal intranet and force webpage.
• Working closely with members of police staff to support their customer focused activities.
Please note: Tasks undertaken by PSVs will not take work away from civilian members of staff. Volunteers are intended to enhance the service already provided by the force.
Written communication along with speaking to people face to face and on the telephone in a professional and confident manner is required. You should have basic IT skills, but will receive training on any systems required. It would be useful if you had previous office experience, but this is not essential. Knowledge of Equality Issues, the Criminal Justice System or previous customer care experience is desirable for some activities.
