Police Operational Support Volunteer

CrimePreventionPageHeaderThe Operational Support department comprises of several units that provided specialist and technical support to policing the county. Performing inventory checks and auditing of key equipment is vital to the effective functioning of the department.

We welcome volunteers to help and support these specialised officers and assist with these essential maintenance activities.

What does this activity involve?

  • Assisting and giving direct support to operational Police Officers with their photocopying and filing. You may also be tasked with inputting data on to computers.
  • Maintaining inventories for vehicle equipment and completing the inventory form. Cleaning and carrying out minor checks on police vehicles. 
  • Performing stock checks and equipment audits on specialist Police equipment. Equipment bag packing in advance for key deployments/training events
  • Using IT applications such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word to maintain databases.

Vacancy numbers are limited.

Skills Required

Written communication along with speaking to people face to face and on the telephone in a professional and confident manner is required. You should have basic IT skills, but will receive training on any systems required. It would be useful if you had previous office experience, but this is not essential.
