Police are offering residents in Buxton and Fairfield the opportunity to pick up some crime prevention advice and have their property security marked.
Officers teams will be at a number of venues across the area on Wednesday, February 15 and Thursday, February 16.
Residents are being encouraged to come along and bring their new portable items and have them security marked by the Buxton and Fairfield Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Items such as sat navs, mobile phones and mp3 players are some of the items that can be marked by officers, meaning that if they are ever stolen and recovered they can be easily identified and returned.
Cyclists can also bring their bikes to the event and the team will be offering around vehicle crime prevention.
PC Graham Mason of the Fairfield Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "The idea behind having property marked is that if it is ever stolen and then recovered, it can be identified and returned to the rightful owner as soon possible. For that reason it also makes it much less attractive to thieves, which can only be a good thing.”
On Wednesday, February 15 officers will be at:
-
Harpur Hill Primary School – between 10am and 11.30am
-
Burbage Primary School – between 12pm and 1.30pm
-
Heath Grove Library – between 2pm and 4pm
On Thursday, February 16 officers will be at:
-
Buxton Town Centre – between 10am and 11.30am
-
St. Annes Catholic Primary School, Lightwood Road – between 12pm and 1.30pm
-
Outside High Peak Community Housing office, Victoria Park Road – between 2pm and 4pm
People will need to provide officers with their postcode and unaccompanied youngsters should ask for permission from an adult.
For more information contact PC Graham Mason or PCSO Michaela Daniels from the Fairfield and Buxton Safer Neighbourhood policing teams by calling 101, the non-emergency number, or by emailing buxton.neighbourhoods@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk|.
