More than 100 property marking kits have been handed out to residents and businesses in Clowne during the last in a series of giveaway days.
Officers from the Clowne Safer Neighbourhood Team and Bolsover District Council gave out SmartWater packs on Saturday, February 18 and Sunday 19 as part of an initiative to have every household in the village protected.
SmartWater is a liquid which is invisible to the naked eye but contains a unique code that can be identified under UV light.
It can be applied to property such as TVs, laptops and even cars to ensure that if it were stolen and recovered it can be returned to the owner.
The SmartWater kits were purchased under a partnership initiative co-ordinated by Clowne Parish Council and have been handed out by Derbyshire Constabulary and Bolsover District Council.
Hundreds of kits have been handed out during giveaways held since August last year.
Police Community Support Officer Suzanne Fox said: “This has been a successful initiative and I am proud to have taken part in it and helped to protect hundreds of homes around Clowne from thieves.”
