Police in Bolsover have set up free football sessions for youngsters as part of their work to tackle nuisance behaviour in the town.
Officers from the Bolsover Town Safer Neighbourhood Team are working with the youth service to offer the weekly sessions at Bolsover School, Mooracre Lane starting on Friday, February 3 from 6pm.
The sessions have been set up as part of local officers’ work to tackle the priority issue of anti-social behaviour and underage drinking on Hornscroft Park.
The team has issued ten nuisance letters to the parents of youngsters found causing anti-social behaviour.
One 15-year-old boy who has persistently caused nuisance behaviour is being signed up to an Acceptable Behaviour Contract which outlines activities he cannot take part in or he faces further action from police.
Officers also patrol the area during the evenings and weekends speaking to youngsters and seizing alcohol from underage drinkers.
On Saturday, January 21 officers seized a large amount of alcohol from youngsters including lager, whiskey and alco-pops.
PCSO Ben Perry, of the Bolsover Town SNT, said: “
“We have done a lot of work on the issue and we have seen a reduction in the behaviour. However, we will continue to target the problem.”
The team is also planning to set up disco evenings for youngsters to attend.
