This Safer Neighbourhood area covers Newbold and Brockwell. It belongs to the Chesterfield policing section.The Newbold and Brockwell ward is a residential area which includes Holmebrook Valley Park, a local nature reserve and has public recreation facilities. The area is divided into four areas which are locally known as Newbold, Holme Hall, Loundsley Green and Brockwell. Within the area are several green areas for recreation used by local football clubs and residents.

Anti-social behaviour, alcohol and possible drug use at Holmebrook Valley Park

Actions to be taken are as follows:
  • Carry out increased patrols and targeted operations.
  • Stop and search anyone found acting suspiciously.
  • Speak to and advise youngsters of the issues.
  • Inform parents and take appropiate action against any underage drinkers.

Reduce speeding and improve road safety around Saltergate and Ashgate Road.

Actions to be taken are as follows:
  • Increased patrols and work with colleagues in Roads Policing to catch offenders and enforce the speed limit
  • Members of the community to keep a log of when and where incidents happen.
  • Worked with partner agencies and local schools and colleges to promote road safety to young people.
  • Set up a Community Speed Watch initiative in the area.

Youngsters gathering around Foston Drive and Wardgate Way shopping centre

Actions to be taken are as follows:
  • Increased patrols and work with Neighbourhood Rangers.
  • Used head cams to gather evidence of anti-social behaviour.
  • Liaised with local residents and shopkeepers to find out when the problem is occurring so we can target our patrols.
  • Worked with the B-Safe team to engage with youngsters and organised diversionary activities for them to take part in.

  • Increased police patrols
  • Advised youngsters found to be causing a nuisance in the area

  • Worked alongside other agencies to look at longer term soluntions.
