This Safer Neighbourhood area covers Walton and West. It belongs to the Chesterfield policing section.Walton and West are both residential areas within Chesterfield Borough Council area. There are several large park areas, which include grass playing fields. Local football and cricket teams use these and there is also a bowling club in the area.

Actions to be taken are as follows:
  • Increased patrols at relevant times to deter offenders and apprehend anyone causing nuisance behaviour or damage.
  • Work with partner agencies to offer alternative activities for youngsters to prevent nuisance behaviour.

  • Increased patrols at the relevant times to deter offenders and apprehend anyone causing nuisance behaviour or damage.
  • Liaised with members of the cricket club to discuss security improvements to prevent damage to their buildings.
  • Worked with partner agencies to offer alternative activities for youngsters to prevent nuisance behaviour.

Purse and handbag thefts at Morrisons, Chatsworth Road Chesterfield.

  • Increased patrols to the store both in uniform and plain clothes at peak times.
  • Held a crime prevention stall in the supermarket to increase the awareness of shoppers and offer security equipment.
  • Advised staff to ensure they know what to look out for and offered advice to customers about keeping their possessions in view at all times.

Anti-social and nuisance behaviour on Walgrove Road and the surrounding area.

  • Police and Council Rangers to carried out joint patrols of the area.
  • Worked with the local community to identify the extent of the problem and those involved.
  • Appropriate action taken as necessary against persistent offenders.
