Vehicle Watch 25

Vehicle Watch 25Motorists are being given the opportunity to help protect their vehicles from theft thanks to a new initiative being piloted and launched jointly by Derbyshire Police and the Community Safety Partnerships.

Called Vehicle Watch 25 Plus, it operates by owners aged over 25 placing Vehicle Watch stickers in the front and rear windows of their vehicles. These mean the police may stop the vehicle at any time if they see it being driven by someone who appears to be under the age of 25.

The main aims of the Vehicle Watch 25 Plus Scheme are to increase the likelihood of a stolen vehicle being spotted by the police, to act as a visible preventative measure to deter young people from becoming involved in offences of theft of motor vehicles and provide reassurance to vehicle owners.

Vehicle owners who display stickers, do so on the understanding that the vehicle is normally driven by people over the age of 25 years. People using the vehicle who appear to be under that age could be challenged by police and should carry a suitable means of identification.

The scheme is free to join and motorists will receive the stickers as part of a vehicle crime prevention pack containing advice leaflets, registration letter, withdrawal letter, change of address form and other relevant information.

Registration to the scheme does not expire unless it is withdrawn or change of ownership occurs.

To join the scheme, download and print off the form attached to this page and return it to Chesterfield and District NHW, Room 339, Divisional HQ, Beetwell Street, Chesterfield S40 1QP.
