Police appeal following suspected arson attack at an Alfreton park

Police investigating a suspected arson attack in an Alfreton park are appealing for information.

Sometime between 5pm on Friday, March 20 and 9.30am on Tuesday, March 24, vandals set fire to play equipment at a park on Cinder Road in Somercotes, Alfreton.

The fire caused severe damage to a cone-shaped climbing frame and a basket swing at the children’s playground.

Officers will be carrying out increased patrols in the area and are asking anyone with any information to get in touch.

Anyone with any information about the damage, or who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the park, is asked to call PC Christopher Anthony on 101, quoting crime number 12144/15.
