Information appeal following garage break-ins in Belper

Posted on 27th March 2015

Officers investigating garage break-ins in Belper are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

At around 5.30am on Wednesday, March 25, thieves attempted to gain entry into the garage of a property on Pilsley Close in Belper.

The offenders were disturbed by the alarm system and fled. No entry was gained and nothing was stolen.

The incident follows a recent burglary whereby a Specialized Hard Rock bike was stolen from a garage along Bradwell Way, Belper. The incident took place overnight between 9pm on Tuesday, March 24 and 8.30am on Wednesday, March 25.

Following the incidents, police are urging residents to consider the security of their own sheds, garages and outbuildings by ensuring that they are properly secure with suitable locks.

Officers are also encouraging residents to security mark their valuables, such as bikes and tools, as this can make your belongings much less attractive to thieves.

Residents are being urged to report anyone acting suspiciously to police on 101 as this could help to stop a crime from happening in your neighbourhood. Always dial 999 in an emergency.

Anyone with any information should call PC Lindsey Howitt on 101, quoting crime reference 12445/15, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
