One of our police officers joined a Derbyshire LGBT+ group last week on an historic walk around Belper.
The event was organised by members who regularly attend the Belper Golden Rainbows and was held last Wednesday, May 16.
The group aims to provide a space and support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people over the age of 55.
PC Fred Bray joined the group on the walk around Belper, and said: “We are very happy to support the group. We understand that this section of the community can feel very isolated, particularly in this age group.
“We want to ensure that there are no barriers between us the police and any section of the community, so anything we can do to help break them down we are happy to do.”
The Belper section of the Golden Rainbows meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, between 1pm and 3pm at The Community Cottage, Chapel Street, Belper.
