Increase in motorcycle thefts in Heanor

Officers from Heanor Safer Neighbourhood Team are warning motorcycle owners to be cautious after a series of thefts in the area.

Police have stated that thieves are targeting vehicles that are 125cc engines and below and the thefts have taken place on Ray Street, Nelson Road, Nook End Road and Kingsway areas.

PC Richard Martin said: “There have been a number of thefts in the area over the past few weeks and we are advising motorcycle owners to be aware of this and take appropriate steps to secure their vehicle.

“Motorcycles should always be locked and preferably not kept on the street or in general view overnight.”
