A local PCSO joined youngsters at a Kilburn school as they got on their bikes, dressed up as superheroes, in aid of Sustrans’ Big Pedal competition.
Officers from the Kilburn Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team visited Kilburn Infant and Nursery School on Friday, March 20 as they took part in the national competition to raise money for Sustrans, a charity which helps support sustainable modes of travel.
The event, which was also supported by Rob Bounds, Senior Transport Officer at Derbyshire County Council, gave the team a chance to make sure the youngsters equipment was security marked.
PCSO John Midgley, of the Kilburn Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We hope that by supporting this event we helped to encourage the children to cycle or scoot to school. Once they had arrived we were also able to security mark their cycles and scooters with equipment from Bike Register.
“The youngsters really got on board with the competition and I think a good day was had by all who took part.”
Bike Register is a national, police approved, bicycle marking and registration scheme. For more information visit www.bikeregister.com.
