Inspector Dave Nicholls
Inspector for this area

Chesterfield is a busy market town and the local policing unit is responsible for policing the town centre and residential areas immediately surrounding it.

Policing is aimed at providing a safe environment, particularly for the night time economy, and reducing violent crime is a priority.

I am the Local Policing Unit Inspector for the borough of Chesterfield and have responsibility for areas such as Chesterfield, Staveley and the surrounding areas.

I became a police officer in 2002 and have experience in a both response and neighbourhood policing in the Chesterfield and Amber Valley areas.

Before being promoted to the rank of Inspector I was the Sergeant in charge of the Safer Neighbourhood policing teams in the Chesterfield town, Hasland, Boythorpe, Grangewood, Walton, Brampton and Ashgate, so have a good understanding of community policing and issues affecting our local areas.

It is a real honour to be given the role of Inspector for the Chesterfield Local Policing Unit.My priorities will be to continue to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour throughout the borough, but in particular to work with partnership agencies to address the concerns people have about anti-social behaviour and drug misuse in Chesterfield town centre.

We are also committed to working alongside the public and our local communities, and would encourage people to report suspicious activity, crime and local issues to the police so that we can work to target them.
