Police and DVLA team up to check car tax in Chesterfield

Posted on 1st July 2014

Police and DVLA staff teamed up for a day of patrols in the Chesterfield area to check vehicles were fully taxed.

Officers from the Chesterfield Town Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team and the DVLA car tax enforcement team took part in the operation on Tuesday, June 24.

PCSO John Lockwood said: “During the patrols in the area we came across just one untaxed car, which was duly clamped. To get their vehicle back the owner would have to pay at least a £100 release fee and also show a valid tax disc.

“It was pleasing to see that the vast majority of road users in the Chesterfield area are appropriately taxing their vehicles.”

Checks are carried out regularly throughout the area and other patrols are being planned in the future.
