Rucksack found in Chesterfield is returned to owner

Posted on 8th October 2015

A rucksack that was found in fields in Chesterfield has been returned to its owner.

Last week, police issued an appeal to find the owner of the backpack and other items including a coat, map, walking guides and a notebook, after they were found in fields off Spital Lane in September.

Following the appeal, the owner called police on Saturday, October 3 to confirm that the items belonged to him.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said: “We had a fantastic response to our appeal including via local news outlets and on social media. The information was shared over 100 times from the force’s Facebook page. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to read and share the story for their help in reuniting the bag and equipment with its owner.”
