This Safer Neighbourhood area includes Dunston, Moor and St Helen's. It is covered by the Chesterfield North Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team and belongs to the Chesterfield Local Policing Unit. The St Helens and Whittington Moor ward is a residential area combined with industrial business parks, a variety of shops and the main campus of Chesterfield College. Sheffield Road and Newbold Road outline the extremes of the beats and link the Town centre to the surrounding area.

  • Increased police patrols.
  • Speak to and advise youngsters and any groups gathering in the area about the issue.

Actions to be taken are as follows:
  • Local Safer Neighbourhood officers will be increasing patrols in the area.
  • They will be monitoring store CCTV recordings to help identify offenders and take further action including prosecution where necessary.
  • Section 59 warnings will be issued where necessary to offending motorists.
  • Officers will be working to install traffic calming measures.
  • This priority was extended following a review in November 2015.

Issue was set on 11/06/2014
Actions to be taken are as follows:
  • Officers increased patrols in the area to target and deter any offenders, and offer reassurance to residents and others using the area.
  • They advised youngsters about the issue and encouraged them to use local diversionary activities.
  • Appropiate action was taken, including seizing alcohol from underage drinkers, setting up Acceptable Behaviour Contracts, issuing Section 59 warnings for nuisance driving and making arrests where necessary.
  • Surgeries were held in the area for people to discuss concerns.
  • Officers worked with local stores and businesses to find longer term solutions to the issue.
  • They worked with partnership agencies to set up alternative activities to youngsters.

I am Sergeant 2387 Matt Adams and I am responsible for this Safer Neighbourhood policing team.

I have been a police officer for more than 16 years, and have been a Sergeant for the last 10 years my service. I have worked in several areas including Derby city centre, Chaddesden, Long Eaton, Ripley, Dronfield and Clay Cross. 

I took up my current position in November 2016 and I am responsible for the newly formed Chesterfield North Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, covering local policing bases at Newbold and Staveley.

 My priorities are to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime, alongside a commitment to provide a high quality service to the public by ensuring my teams are visible, approachable and work alongside partner agencies to target problems affecting the local community.
