Youngsters get their cycle skills in gear during proficiency visit

Posted on 28th July 2014

Police helped teach children how to stay safe when riding their bikes on roads during a visit to a Chesterfield school.

Officers from Holmebrook and Rother Safer Neighbourhood Team helped out during the event at Parkside Community School, in Boythorpe Avenue.

The aim was to give children a reminder about cycle safety ahead of the school summer holiday.

Youngsters aged 12 to 15 were given refreshers on how to ride safely on a road, including signalling, cycling out of junctions and riding near traffic.

The cycling proficiency visit was held at the school on Monday and Tuesday, July 21 and 22.
