Posted on 2nd December 2016

Youngsters in Poolsbrook and Duckmanton can take part in a free karate and kickboxing training sessions this December.

The first one will take place in Poolsbrook between 6pm and 7pm at Poolsbrook Miners Welfare on Monday, December 5.

For youngsters in Duckmanton, the session will take place at Duckmanton Miners Welfare, also between 6pm and 7pm, but on Monday, December 12.

The sessions have been organised by PCSO Janis Naylor of the local Safer Neighbourhood policing team. Rooms for the training have been offered for free, and funding for the training instructors have been provided by Staveley Town Council.

PCSO Naylor said: “These sessions have been set up to give local youngsters a taster in something which might be new to them, and can build fitness, focus, respect and confidence skills.

“It also offers local youngsters a place to go during these darker December evenings and take part in an activity which I hope they will enjoy.”
