A series of activities set up for teens in Poolsbrook and Duckmanton in February turned out to be a storming success.
Six different sports, karaoke and disco sessions were arranged by the local Safer Neighbourhood policing team during the school half-term holidays and the following week.
Almost 100 eight to 16 year old youngsters turned up to the events which were organised by PCSO Janis Naylor and paid for by local councillors.
They included a Sporting Futures session at Poolsbrook playing fields, karate and kickboxing, karaoke and discos, and boxing at both Poolsbrook Social Club and Duckmanton Miners’ Welfare.
PCSO Naylor said: "We had between 10 and 25 youngsters come along to each event, and some also included competitions and prizes, and refreshments.
“It’s been fantastic to see so many young people coming. We hope to organise more sessions in the future, and already have plans for a KMX karting event at Easter so watch this space!”
