Appeal after football posts are removed from a park in Mastin Moor

Posted on 17th September 2014

Police are appealing for information after a full sized football goal post was removed from a park and left in a road in Mastin Moor.

The posts, which were sited in Lansbury Avenue Park, were removed from the ground sometime overnight between Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14.

PCSO Sue Cooke, of the Staveley Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This is really disappointing as the equipment was bought through community funding for youngsters and local residents to enjoy and when things get damaged in this way there can be less inclination to buy new equipment.

“The goal post is quite heavy and bulky, so it would have taken more than just one person to remove. It was also left in the middle of the road, which could have been dangerous to motorists.”

PCSO Cooke added: “With the help of staff from Chesterfield Borough Council the posts have now been safely dismantled and removed from the area and I would urge anyone who may have seen or heard anything about this incident to contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact PCSO Sue Cooke of the Staveley Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.
