Police in Chesterfield and Amber Valley are urging drivers to be vigilant after a number of vehicles have been damaged.
There have been reports of offenders causing damage to the windows and tyres of cars in Staveley, Middlecroft, Inkersall and Heanor in the last few weeks. In some cases, sharp instruments have been used to scratch the paintwork.
Residents are being asked to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to their local policing team to help to stop a crime from happening.
Motorists are also being encouraged to park in well-lit, overlooked areas and to use garages or driveways where possible to extra protect their vehicles.
To report suspicious activity in your community call police on 101, always dial 999 in an emergency.
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
