Officers from the Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team will be hosting a Cop Shop to offer advice and discounted security products to people living in the local community.
Residents will be able to get their hands on cut-price home security kits and crime prevention advice as part of the on-going Operation Illuminate campaign.
The annual drive, which is led by Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership, sees police officers and council staff heading out into local communities to speak to people about the steps that they can take to better protect themselves from crime.
The policing team will be setting up shop at the Enquiry Office on Compton Road, Ashbourne on Saturday, May 17. The event will run from 10am until 2pm.
Visitors to the event will be given the opportunity to purchase home security items at a discounted cost in a bid to deter criminals from targeting a property. This includes timers, indoor and outdoor ‘dusk til dawn’ light bulbs shed alarms and door chimes.
Smart Water and bike marking security kits will also be available during the Cop Shop.
The team will be on hand to offer crime prevention advice and speak to residents about policing campaigns including the Stamp out Fraud in Derbyshire initiative.
Officers will be handing out leaflets to advise people about how they can take steps to protect themselves from scams and stay safe online.
Discounted home security kits can be purchased from your local police station or council officers with prices starting at just £1.
