Derbyshire and Staffordshire team up to target cross border criminals in Ashbourne

Posted on 20th February 2015

Derbyshire officers are teaming up to crackdown on cross border crime as part of Operation Budle.

The targeted operation will see officers working alongside Staffordshire Police to combat thefts and burglaries in the rural communities of Sudbury, Doveridge and Manifold Valley.

Police will be teaming up to carry out high-visibility patrols across the borders in order to deter thieves and catch offenders in the act after residents reported theft from vehicles and non-dwelling burglaries.

Alongside carrying out patrols, the policing team will also be offering advice to local residents about the steps that they can take to further protect their property from being targeted by thieves.

PC Danny Smith from the Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “It is crucial when investigating crime that the invisible borders that exist between Derbyshire and Staffordshire do not get in the way of preventing crime and bringing offenders to justice.”

The operation will see Safer Neighbourhood teams working alongside special constables and operational support officers from both forces to target offenders.
