Police investigate cat deaths from suspected poisoning in Ashbourne

Police in Ashbourne are investigating alleged cat poisoning incidents.

Officers received a call from a resident on Cavendish Drive, Ashbourne on Tuesday, August 25 to report that their cat had allegedly been poisoned and subsequently had to be put down.

Residents have told police that they believe other cats in the area have died after eating something poisonous.

Officers are working to investigate the incidents and they are urging local people to be vigilant to the issue.

They are also encouraging anyone who comes into contact with chemicals and the distribution of substances to ensure they are properly secured and areas are left uncontaminated.

Anyone with information about the incidents is urged to contact A/Sgt Simon Wolverson on 101, quoting crime incident number 243/25/08/2015.
