Officers from the Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team have been teaming up with partners to host a Christmas event for residents in the town.
Elderly residents living in Ashbourne and the surrounding villages were invited along to the Ashbourne and District Community Christmas Cracker event at the Ashbourne Elim Pentecostal Church on Friday, December 16.
During the morning, visitors picked up advice and support from the Safer Neighbourhood team and a range of other partner agencies that came along to support the day. This included Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service, Trading Standards, and Age Concern. Dales Housing, Care Line, and the local handy man were also on hand to chat with guests.
A buffet lunch, along with tea and coffee, was then served before an afternoon of festive entertainment. This included Christmas carols from a local vocal group, Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, and children from Clifton C of E Primary School.
PCSO Joanne Dales from the Hulland and Brailsford Safer Neighbourhood Team organised the event with the help from Councillor Caroline Cooper.
PCSO Dales said: “The event was a great success and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved.
“Our partners for coming along to offer advice on how to stay safe and well over the festive season, along with Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer, Subway, Dales Housing, and our local newsagent for their donation and support.
“I would also like to say a special thank you to the children, band and vocal group. The performances in the afternoon were fantastic and really helped to get everyone in the festive mood.”
