Ashbourne cyclists have the chance to get their bikes security marked for free.
PCSO David Seabridge of the Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team is holding a cycling security event in conjunction with Halfords to help people protect their property and deter would-be thieves.
The event is set to take place towards the start of the school summer holidays, a time when many youngsters and their families will be tempted to get out on their bikes.
People may also be tempted to make the most of the warmer weather and cycle around the area.
PCSO Seabridge said: “We are reminding cyclists to take the time to secure their bikes whenever they are unattended, both when they are out and about and also at home.
“Getting your bike security marked can help deter some thieves as it makes them more difficult for them to be sold on. It can also help police to identify them as stolen and potentially trace them back to their owners if they are recovered.”
The free cycle marking service will take place between 10am and 2pm on Saturday, July 29, at Halfords, Waterside Retail Park.
