Could you volunteer with our officers in Ashbourne? Find out more at our local event

Could you see yourself volunteering alongside our police officers in Ashbourne, or would you like to find out more about our Police Support Volunteers?

We are holding an event in Ashbourne this weekend to give people the chance to pick up more information on volunteering roles in the Derbyshire Dales.

Police Staff Volunteers (PSVs) help the police in the community, with anything from giving crime prevention to residents, to working alongside the Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood policing teams to visit our local rural villages.

The information event will take place on Saturday, December 8 between 10am and 3pm at Ashbourne Market Place.

Inspector Daron Abbott, who is in charge of policing in the Derbyshire Dales, said: “We hope to highlight the valuable contribution Police Support Volunteers can make in the communities which they serve.

“We’d especially like to recruit more people who could spare some of their time to help our officers in Ashbourne and the Derbyshire Dales. The roles do not replace police staff roles, take away overtime or carry out tasks which people would expect a police officer to do. In return, by volunteering you’ll enhance your CV, make new friends, and give something back to your local community.”

Further events are also being planned in Matlock and Bakewell.

If you can’t attend the event, you can find out more information volunteering and careers by clicking here, or emailing CitizensInPolicing@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk.
