Bakewell police team up to tackle off road vehicles in Stanage Edge

Posted on 26th November 2014

Police and partners have been teaming up to tackle off road vehicles around Stanage Edge, Hope Valley.

Throughout the day on Saturday, November 15, officers from the Bakewell Safer Neighbourhood Team worked in partnership with the Peak Park Ranger Service to carry out traffic regulation patrols in the area.

The initiative took place at Long Causeway on Stanage Edge, between Stanage and Sheffield, to prevent illegal vehicle usage taking place along the route.

Sergeant Andy Wordsworth from the Bakewell Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “We have been teaming up with the Peak Park Ranger Service to carry out Traffic Regulation Order compliance patrols to protect the area from becoming damaged by off road vehicles.

“One of the main reasons for the Traffic Regulation Order is to protect the areas natural beauty from being destroyed by people driving illegally along the route.

“During the day we were pleased to see no off road vehicles in the area, however we will continue to work in partnership to carry out further patrols in the near future. Anyone who is found to be breaching the order will be dealt with accordingly.”
