Women's Institute group visited by PCSO for community policing chat

Posted on 13th March 2013

A Hathersage area PCSO has given a talk to members of Calver Women’s Institute about the role of a community police officer.

PCSO Anthony Boswell also spoke about local policing issues and how residents can help officers set priorities during the visit, which took place on Monday, March 4.

The WI members had the chance to ask questions about police work, as well as finding out about the road safety campaign Operation Safedrive, and Operation Illuminate, which offers cut-price home security kit to Derbyshire Dales residents.

PCSO Boswell said: “I was invited to visit the group and give them an insight into the work of a community police officer, and what we do to keep their neighbourhoods safe.

“It was a great opportunity to give the group information about what we do, and how we are targeting issues such as speeding and burglaries with Operations like Safedrive and Illuminate.”
