Police issue advice following theft from Hathersage campsite

Posted on 25th April 2014

Officers from the Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood team are advising campers in the area to remove valuables from their tents following thefts in the area.

Between 11am and 6.15pm on Monday, April 21, offenders entered a tent on a campsite on Birley Lane, Hathersage.

A Mammut sports jacket, a Sony Experia Z mobile phone and a wallet containing cash were taken.

Between 10.30am and 6.30pm on the same date, offenders entered a tent and took a Samsung mobile phone from within.

PCSO Anthony Boswell from the Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “I would encourage all campers not to leave any valuables in their tent while unattended.

“It only takes a few minutes for a criminal to enter a tent and search through belongings to steal.”

Anyone with any information about the incidents is asked to call police on 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire police, quoting crime reference 16405/14.

To report a crime anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
