Land Rover owners are being invited along to have their vehicles security marked for free as part of a targeted police initiative.
The Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team will be taking to the road tomorrow (Saturday, April 18) to host a free Land Rover security marking event for local motorists.
The team will be hosting the event between 10am and 2pm at the Pavilion Car Park in Grindleford, to encourage 4x4 owners to protect their vehicles from being targeted by thieves.
Safer Neighbourhood officers will be on hand throughout the day to security mark vehicles for free with SmartWater kits.
SmartWater is a forensic based security marking fluid that can be used on property from bikes, electrical items and jewellery to help deter criminals.
Marking items with security kits such as SmartWater can improve the chances of police returning any items if they are stolen and recovered.
PCSO Anthony Boswell from the Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "We will be hosting our first Land Rover marking day tomorrow to help motorists to boost the security of their vehicles.
"We will also be on hand to chat to residents about any neighbourhood concerns that they may have, along with offering further crime prevention advice.
"We will also be signing residents up to the FarmWatch scheme to help to cut crime in the rural communities."
The team are looking to host further security marking days over the next few months. To keep up to date with upcoming events in your community, visit the team's page.
