Police donate security items to charity event in Bradwell

Posted on 19th February 2015

Officers from the Hathersage and Tideswell Safer Neighbourhood Team have donated a number of security items to a cancer charity event in Bradwell.

Local resident, Richard Burns is hosting the charity evening at the Shoulder of Mutton pub on Church Street, on Saturday, July 4 2015 from 7.30pm.

Safer Neighbourhood officers have teamed up with Karen Cooper from Derbyshire Dales District Council to donate a number of items for the event including a shed alarm, door chime and UV pen.

PCSO Anthony Boswell from the local policing team said: “We’re delighted to be able to support the local community and offer these items for a worthy charity event.

“The equipment will allow people to boost their home security in a bid to deter thieves from targeting them.”

Richard said: “I am organising the event to raise much-needed funds for Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield, after someone I know was diagnosed with bowel cancer earlier this year.

“The work the nurses do to support people with cancer is amazing, and I want to raise around £500 to say thank you to the team.

“I contacted my local policing team to request some possible donations for the event and I’m glad they’ve been able to contribute some equipment to the cause.”
