Ashbourne residents invited to boost their home security

Posted on 8th January 2014

An officer from Marston and Clifton Safer Neighbourhood Team will be heading out on the road to help residents boost their home security as part of Operation Illuminate.

PC Bointon from the team will be visiting rural communities and chatting to residents about the campaign and the steps that they can take to keep themselves safe from crime.

Simple steps such as making sure windows and doors and securely locked, house and car keys are kept out of view and valuables are not left on display will help to deter a criminal.

PC John Bointon will be heading out throughout the day on Saturday, January 11 to offer cut-price home security kits such as shed alarms, timer switches and door chimes as part of Operation Illuminate. Prices start at just £1.

Times and locations are as follows:

  • Mappleton between 11.00am and 12pm;
  •  Fenny Bentley between 12.15pm and 1.15pm;
  •  Biggin between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

The scheme, which is led by Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership, sees police officers and council staff heading out into local communities to speak to people about crime prevention.

For more information, call PC Bointon on 101 or Derbyshire Dales District Council on 01629 761 100.
