Three arrested near Ashbourne after van was stolen in Stoke-on-Trent

We have arrested three men in Alkmonton near Ashbourne after a van, believed to have been stolen from Stoke-on-Trent, was found by officers.

This comes after officers from our Roads Policing Unit stopped a van at around 10.20pm on Tuesday, January 17 on Leapley Lane, Alkmonton.

The driver, a 27-year-old man from Derby, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and driving while under the influence of drugs.

The two passengers, two men from Derby aged 19 and 24, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle.

All three men remain in custody in Staffordshire for questioning.

The van, a white Ford Transit, was stolen from a driveway in Spey Drive in Kidsgrove, Stoke-on-Trent sometime overnight between Monday 16 and Tuesday, January 17.

When found the van was displaying registration plates that were stolen from another van in Church Lawton.
