Officers combat shoplifting and ASB in Matlock and surrounding areas

Posted on 25th March 2014

Safer Neighbourhood officers will be heading out on the beat to combat shoplifting and anti-social behaviour in Matlock and the surrounding areas.

The priorities were set by the local Safer Neighbourhood team as no issues were raised by residents during the latest governance meeting.

The meetings are a great opportunity for residents in Matlock, Matlock Bath, Cromford and Bonsall and also Darley Dale and Winster to raise any neighbourhood concerns with their community officers.

Police will be heading out on high-visibility patrols to target anti-social behaviour in the community as the nights get lighter. Officers will be engaging with groups of youths to speak to them about the impact that their behaviour can have on people living in the local community.

They will also be tackling noise nuisance by speaking to young drivers about over revving their engines and causing a disturbance in the neighbourhood.

The policing team will continue to monitor shoplifting in Matlock town centre by carrying out increased uniformed and plain clothed patrols in a bid to deter criminals.

Residents are invited to attend the next Safer Neighbourhood governance meeting to help set policing priorities for their area. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 4 at Matlock police station on Bank Road and will run from 5.30pm.

To speak to your local Safer Neighbourhood team call 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire police.
