Operation Illuminate takes to the roads to boost home security in Matlock

Posted on 24th September 2014

Officers from the Matlock Safer Neighbourhood Team will be heading out on the road for upcoming Operation Illuminate events across the community.

The team will be visiting Matlock, Wirksworth, Darley Dale and Cromford to encourage residents to better protect their homes from criminals as the darker nights draw in.

The annual drive, which is led by Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership, sees police officers and council staff heading out into local communities to offer crime prevention advice.

Residents will be able to chat to the team about any neighbourhood concerns along with picking up home security kits to help reduce the risk of burglary. This includes ‘dusk til dawn bulbs’, timers and door chimes.

The Matlock Safer Neighbourhood Team will be visiting:

  • Wirksworth Market Place between 10.30am and 2.30pm on Monday, September 29;
  • Lime Grove in Darley Dale between 10.30am 2.30pm on Monday, October 6;
  • Cromford Market Place between 10.30am and 2.30pm on Wednesday, October 8;
  • Lynholmes Road in Matlock between 10am and 2pm on Friday, October 10;
  • Park Head, Matlock between 10am and 2pm on Saturday, October 11.

Discounted home security kits can also be purchased from your local police station or council officers with prices starting at just £1.

For more information, contact your local Safer Neighbourhood team on 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire police.
