Police appeal to trace witnesses following alleged attempted robbery in Matlock

Posted on 12th December 2016

Officers investigating an alleged attempted robbery in a Matlock park are looking to trace potential witnesses.

At around 6.30pm on Saturday, December 10, a 20-year-old woman was walking through Hall Leys Park on Causeway Lane when she was confronted by two women.

The women began to kick her until she fell to the floor and attempted to steal her handbag. The offenders, described as white and wearing puffer coats with the hoods up, ran off empty handed in the direction of Knowleston Place.

Following the incident, officers are looking to trace an elderly woman and two men who helped the victim up from the floor and out of the park. It is believed that the men and woman, thought to be from the Cromford area, may have witnessed the attempted robbery.
