Monyash residents reminded about Operation Illuminate home security visit

Posted on 19th March 2013

A crime prevention campaign aimed at helping people safeguard their homes from burglary heads to Monyash this week.

Operation Illuminate is a scheme where Derbyshire Dales residents can buy cut-price home security items such as shed alarms, timer switches and outdoor lightbulbs.

These items can be an effective deterrent to burglars and can reassure homeowners that their property is well-protected.

Over the past few months, Safer Neighbourhood teams have been heading out to remote villages to offer the items to residents who cannot get to local police stations or council offices, where the goods are on sale.

The next visit takes place at Monyash throughout the day on Thursday, March 21.

Among the items that will be on offer to Monyash residents are:

  • Shed alarms £5 (RRP £8)
  • Indoor light bulbs £2 (RRP £4)
  • Outdoor light bulbs £5 (RRP £8)
  • Timer switches £1 (RRP £4)
  • Door chimes £1 (RRP £2)

Officers will also be encouraging residents to sign up to Derbyshire Alert, a free police messaging service where voicemails, texts and emails are sent out about crime prevention advice, witness appeals, public meetings and more.

Operation Illuminate is being run by the Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership, which is led by the police and Derbyshire Dales District Council.
