Pilsley speed checks

Safer Neighbourhood officers have been carrying out speed checks in Pilsley after local residents voiced concerns.

The Tideswell, Litton, Baslow and Beeley Safer Neighbourhood Team headed out on the beat on Thursday, June 11 to monitor the speed of motorists along the B6048 in Pilsley.

During the two-hour checks, four drivers were stopped and spoken to by the officers after they were found to be exceeding the 30mph speed limit.

PC Simon Wolverson from the villages' Safer Neighbourhood team said: "The views of our residents are really important to us so when concerns over speeding were brought up, we decided to head out and monitor the situation.

"Over a two hour period, the majority of passing motorists abided by the 30mph speed limit, however there were still four drivers who were advised about the importance of sticking to the laws of the road.

"Speed limits are there for a reason and when these are broken they are putting the lives of motorists, pedestrians and other road users at risk. We will continue to carry out further checks in the area in the near future."
