Police set to host security marking day at Carsington Water

Posted on 21st May 2015

Cyclists and Land Rover owners are being encouraged to get their security into gear at an upcoming crime prevention and property marking drive.

Officers from the Wirksworth and Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team are joining up to host a security marking initiative at Carsington Water on Sunday, May 31.

Safer Neighbourhood officers will be on hand between 9am and 3pm to security mark vehicles and bikes for free with SmartWater kits.

SmartWater is a forensic based security marking fluid that can be used on property from bikes, electrical items and jewellery to help deter criminals.

Marking items with security kits such as SmartWater can improve the chances of police returning any items if they are stolen and recovered.

The policing team will also be on hand to chat to people about the steps that they can take to better protect their valuables from criminals.

The team are looking to host further security marking days over the next few months. To keep up to date with upcoming events in your community, visit www.derbyshire.police.uk and head to the team's page.

To speak to your local Safer Neighbourhood team call 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire police.
