Good turnout from Ashbourne area residents to meet local police and Derbyshire's PCC during recent illuminate tour

Posted on 7th November 2017

Our officers in the Ashbourne area had day of meeting local residents alongside Derbyshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner during the latest Operation Illuminate tour.

The crime prevention roadshow visited Clifton, Yeaveley, Sudbury, Doveridge, Norbury and Marston on Saturday, October 28 to speak to people about concerns and offer reduced price security items.

Residents had the chance to get hold of ‘dusk till dawn’ light bulbs, shed alarms and door chimes and other goods designed to help people reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.

The items were provided by the Safer Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership, which includes Derbyshire Constabulary and Derbyshire Dales District Council.

PCSO David Seabridge said: “The events were really well attended, with residents coming along to say hello to both us and PCC Hardyl Dhindsa.

“Quite a lot of crime prevention leaflets and equipment were collected on the day, and many wanted to discuss concerns with ourselves and Mr Dhindsa, including issues around the use of drones, speeding traffic and vehicles disturbing horses.”

Further Operation Illuminate crime prevention tours are being considered in the Derbyshire Dales areas in the future.
