Man charged in connection with Wirksworth damages

A 25-year-old man has been charged with criminal damage in connection with a number of damages to properties in the Wirksworth area.

Overnight between Tuesday, February 24 and Wednesday, February 25, officers received a number of reports from residents whereby windows of their properties had been smashed or damaged.

The incidents took place along Derby Road, Bournebrook Avenue and Recreation Road in Wirksworth.

Jacob Hare (25) of 3 Wheatcroft Close in Wirksworth has been charged with criminal damage by causing damage to dwellings. He is set to appear at North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 1.

PC Dan Mitchell from the Wirksworth and Middleton Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “I would like to thank the community for working alongside us to help to bring those responsible to justice.

“Wirksworth is a nice place to live and acts of criminal damages will not be accepted.

“I would like to encourage to the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activity to us so that we can continue to cut crime.”
