Kids get a glimpse of police work at family fun day in Buxton

Posted on 8th July 2013

Officers from Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team gave scores of youngsters a peek behind the wheel of a police car during a family event.

The team were invited to St Ann’s Primary School, in Lightwood Road, to chat to children about road safety and being careful over the summer holidays.

Children at the event, which took place on Saturday, July 6, were taught about staying safe and were given activities to get involved in while officers told them about policing work.

They then had the chance to sit in a police car.

PCSO Patrick Haley (pictured above), from Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Going along to the event gave us a great chance to speak to young children about the work we do and how they can keep safe over the summer.

“The kids seemed to take a lot out of it and they especially enjoyed having a look around the police car. A few of the adults were quite excited about that as well!”
