Drink and drug driving awareness event for Buxton students

Posted on 29th October 2014

Students in Buxton are invited to attend an information event aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of drink and drug driving.

The Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team will be working alongside officers from the police licensing team to chat to students about the risks of driving under the influence.

A/Sergeant Russ Barlow said: “We will be working alongside our partners from the health services throughout the event to raise awareness of the use and misuse of alcohol.

“We will be illustrating what is meant by a unit of alcohol, along with tackling the myths around ‘safe limits’ of drinking and driving.

“We hope to educate people about the risks and threats of alcohol abuse, and urge them to think carefully about getting behind the wheel if they have had a drink, especially in the run up to the festive season.”

The event is set to take place in the Dome, at the University of Derby, Buxton campus on Tuesday, November 11. It will run between 12:30pm and 2pm.

To find out more about the event or to speak to the Safer Neighbourhood policing team call 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire police.
