Officers visit Milton Court residents for home security chat

Posted on 5th March 2014

Safer Neighbourhood officers headed out on the beat to chat to residents about increasing their home security.

PC Mark Parkinson and PCSO Linda Cook from the Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team visited the residents at Milton Court on Broadwalk, Buxton to offer crime prevention advice.

The team were joined by a warden from the property during the visit on Monday, March 3 to answer any questions or concerns from the residents.

PCSO Linda Cook from the local policing team said: “Community visits like this are a great way for us to chat to residents about keeping safe and further protecting themselves from opportunists.

“We spoke to the residents about the ways that they can increase their personal and home security by following steps such as ensuring that no valuable items are left on display and checking that windows and doors are securely locked before leaving the property or going to bed.”

Other advice includes ensuring that house and car keys are removed from locks and from view of windows and to consider leaving a light on or using timers if you are going out after dark.

To speak to the policing team call 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire police.
