The team head out to boost vehicle security in Buxton
Land Rover owners in Buxton have been boosting the security of their vehicles thanks to the help of their local Safer Neighbourhood team.
PC Mark Parkinson and PCSO's Linda Cook, Patrick Haley and Sally Bowden visited Sylvan Park Car Park on Spring Gardens, Buxton earlier today (Friday, June 5) to encourage motorists to get their security into gear.
During the morning, officers marked up a number of Land Rovers with SmartWater to help deter criminals from targeting the vehicles and making off with parts.
SmartWater is a forensic based security marking fluid that can be used on property from bikes, electrical items and jewellery to help deter criminals.
PC Mark Parkinson from the town's Safer Neighbourhood team said: "The event was a great opportunity for us to head out into the Buxton community to help motorists to take action against criminals.
"Not only does security marking your valuables help to deter thieves, it can also improve the chances of us returning any items to you if they are stolen and then recovered.
"We will be looking to host security markings days in July and over the summer months so keep a look out for future events."
The team will be looking to host further crime prevention events in the near future. To keep up-to-date with policing events in your community, visit the Derbyshire Constabulary website at www.derbyshire.police.uk and visit your team's page.
