Buxton residents urged to be on the lookout for door step callers

Posted on 18th February 2015

Officers from the Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team are asking residents to be extra vigilant around door step callers following suspicious incidents in the area.

Over the past couple of weeks, police have received a number of reports of a woman going door to door in the area asking to borrow money.

Police are asking residents to remain vigilant and to not feel pressured into handing over cash.

PCSO Sally Bowden from the Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “We are encouraging residents to continue to be cautious and to report any suspicious activity to us.

“If you feel uncomfortable in a situation, do not feel pressured to answer the door or hand over cash, and call police on 101 to report the incident.”

To speak to your local Safer Neighbourhood team call 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire police.
